WHR Snap Shot

Bruce and donna Tippetts started Walnut Hills Retreat (WHR) in 1983 when 80 acres of land was purchased on the north side of Lake Lemon in Brown County, Indiana. The property was the site of the beginning of a camp ministry.  This land was devoid of any development and was where they became a 501-c-3 ministry.   As they  developed their long-range plans and better funding base, a new opportunity opened up for this ministry.  The WHR board decided in 1995 to sell the original property and purchase an exciting, existing retreat facility where the ministry is now located.  Over the years many new improvements and additions have occurred and the facility has increased in value from $400,000 to $2.5 million.

Our passion has been one of growth and creating new outreaches.  Innovative plans for the coming years will be designed to continue to meet the changing needs of our guests.  this will be made possible by building new facilities, creating new program initiatives, and making enhancements to current facilities.

The staff, Board, and many volunteers have worked tirelessly to help the Kingdom grow through seeing thousands of campers come to know the Lord in a retreat environment.

Walnut Hills Retreat is an outreach ministry that is financially supported as a home mission by many churches and individuals.  Financial gifts provide essential benefits to our campers.  Campers fees do not cover the entire cost of a stay with us.  Many campers come from low-income families and would not be able to attend without a scholarship.  New programs, building projects and equipment purchases are acquired through special financial gifts.

Every year we serve thousands of campers and hundreds make various spiritual decisions that count for eternity.  The continue success and growth of WHR depends on the contributions of many.  Please help us continue our ministry by involving us as a part of your church and personal giving plan.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.
